Things to do at Christmas time in San Diego

We are so fortunate to live in sunny San Diego!  Even in December the weather is usually mild enough that we can venture out and catch some great traditional things to do.  Here are some top holiday picks:

See Neighborhood Christmas Lights– Several neighborhoods around town put on annual displays and even hold competitions.  Christmas Circle in Chula Vista has been calling their light displays a tradition for 46 years!  See list of other residential holiday light displays around the county.

Drive-Thru Christmas Lights – The Del Mar Race Track has more than 400 lighted and animated displays. Load up your car and drive around this 1.5 mile race track full of holiday spirit!  Now through January 1st 2012.

Ice Skate Outdoors – The downtown ice rink is located at Horton Square and is the perfect holiday setting.  Now through January 8th between Horton Plaza and the NBC 7/39 TV studios.  Be sure to bundle up the family, it can get cold!

Boats on Parade – At night – Go visit the annual San Diego Bay Parade of lights.  100 boats all covered in lights while you cruise 7.5 miles of the beautiful San Diego Bay.

Holiday Bowl Parade– This year it is the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl Parade at 10am on December 28th. It has been called “America’s largest balloon parade,” also including bands, drill teams and more.  After is the Bridgeport Education Holiday Bowl game at Qualcomm Stadium.

Go See the Grinch! – “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” put on by the Old Globe Theater is a definite must see!  The 2011 production runs now through December 31st.

Sugar Plum Faries Anyone?– What is Christmas without the Nutcracker?  San Diego Civic Youth Ballet is doing a totally revised Nutcracker.  Catch it at Casa del Prado Theater in Balboa park now through December 18th.

Give A Gift – We all tend to get wrapped up in the material aspects of Christmas, how about purchasing an extra gift and donating it to someone in need?  Giving to those less fortunate helps remind us what the holiday season is really about.

Because the goodwill of those we serve is the foundation of our success, It is our pleasure at this holiday time to say thank you as we wish you a full year of happiness and success!
