About The Area:
Oceanside, CA is located approximately one hour north of San Diego, and forty five minutes from South Orange County. Located in San Diego County, this busy seaside city boasts a growing population with a large military presence, due to its proximity to the Camp Pendleton base.
Residents live just miles from the Pacific Ocean and the scenic pier is always close by. Depending on what part of the city residents live in, several bike paths will take riders all the way to the shoreline. Once at the beach, the lively pier is home to a Ruby’s diner located at the far end, a quarter of a mile into the ocean. Fishing and scenic viewing at the pier are common pastimes here, and miles of sandy beach can be seen in either direction.
On either side of the pier, sunbathing and surfing are the activities of choice, with the north end boasting a relatively new stadium seating area for events, and an extensive kid’s play park is located on the sand itself. To get away from the hustle and bustle of pier side activity, take the strand in either direction and watch the crowds fade away as you enjoy the relaxation of the sand and waves.
