Dash and Dine Gaslamp 5K
Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 7 p.m.
Gaslamp Quarter, Downtown San Diego CA
A fun start to the Independence Day weekend, the first Dash and Dine 5K celebrates San Diego’s nightlife and culinary talents with a run that travels through the Gaslamp Quarter and Downtown San Diego, finishing at the iconic Gaslamp Quarter Archway. A portion of the proceeds will also go towards the Armed Services YMCA’s programs at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Now that we’ve covered the details of the dash, what about the dine? The Dash and Dine 5K also gives participants an outlet to enjoy a major reason that many people run to begin with: food! After the race is over, participants will be able to show their bib at participating restaurants, hotels, and shops for special discounts on food, drink, or merchandise.

Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 7:30 a.m.
Tamarack State Beach, Carlsbad CA
Races are popular North County events, possibly because they give athletes the chance to enjoy the beautiful North County coastline… and the Carlsbad Triathlon is no exception! The 33rd Annual Carlsbad Triathlon begins at Tamarack Surf Beach and follows the Carlsbad coast that spans by beautiful beaches, lagoons, and a wildlife preserve. Athletes will experience it all through a tranquil ocean swim, rolling bike course, and smooth finishing run.
All athletic levels are welcome, making the triathlon a mix of first-timers, experienced athletes, and elites. Friends and family are encouraged to come out and support, and the roads are completely closed to traffic for a safe event. The course is mostly flat with a few rolling areas.

Camp Pendleton’s Semper Tri and Devil Dog Duathlon
Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 7:30 a.m.
Camp Pendleton, Oceanside CA
Many North County events also center around Camp Pendleton. Known for hosting fun and rugged races, Camp Pendleton offers options for a triathlon and duathlon with this event on August 2nd. The Semper Tri Triathlon begins with a 500 meter swim in an average water temp of 68 degrees (wet suits are advised). An out and back 30K bike ride follows, and the race is finished with a 5K loop-course run.
The Devil Dog Duathlon starts with a 2K out and back beach run and is followed by a 30K out and back bike ride. This race is also finished by a 5K run.
For both events, the bike course contains moderate hills and is shared on the road with cars, so safe cycling practices are a must. The finishing 5K is flat and fast with a few easy inclines.
The best part about this event is that all revenue helps support the quality of life programs for Marines, Sailors, and their families! There is also a $5 discount for all active duty military not stationed aboard Camp Pendleton, and the event is free for all active duty military currently stationed at Camp Pendleton.
