For 2014, neutrals are going beyond white, beige, and gray. Plenty of soft, calm hues of pink, blue, green, and purple are popular “neutral” choices as well as darker blues and purples (like Sherwin-Williams color of the year, Exclusive Plum). These paint trends show that the modern home craves neutrals that compliment the decor but that are anything but boring.
Bright, vibrant walls are also appearing among popular paint colors 2014. Behr mixes the “new neutrals” trend and combines it with palettes containing deep burgundy or bright red colors.
Their Edgewater color in the Seaside Harmony collection (above) is another bright hue popping up all over design and decor magazines. The bright color adds life to walls but somehow still passes as a neutral when paired with toned-down furniture and natural-looking accents in the room.
